Our Projects
At Abaka Boxing Foundation (ABF), every project is inspired by our belief that sports can transform lives, restore dignity, and build stronger communities.
Through collaborative programs in sports, education, environment, and social outreach, we empower youth and families to rise above challenges and create positive change.
Below are some of our signature projects that embody our mission — Boxing for Prosperity and Posterity.
1. Rotary Club of Lang’ata Community Visit & Donation Drive
Date: March 9, 2024
Location: Korogocho
Partners: Rotary Club of Lang’ata, ABF Goodwill Ambassadors
Overview:
The Rotary Club of Lang’ata visited our Korogocho training center for a mentorship and donation session with our young boxers. The day was filled with laughter, motivation, and empowerment.
The Rotary team donated:
- Sanitary towels for 20 girls (one-year supply)
- Five boxer shorts each for 25 boys
- Two pairs of professional boxing gloves
The visit also included motivational talks on leadership, education, and community service, reminding our youth that true champions use their strength to uplift others.
Impact:
- 45 youth directly supported
- 20 girls empowered through hygiene support
- Improved training equipment capacity
- Strengthened partnerships with corporate and civic bodies
2. Tree Planting & Environmental Conservation Initiative
Date: April 2024
Location: Korogocho and Kariobangi
Partners: Kombgreen Solutions, Mama Elizabeth Home, Wazeledo Movement Africa
Overview:
As part of Kenya’s environmental sustainability drive, ABF organized a Tree Planting Exercise to promote eco-consciousness and environmental care among our youth. Over 200 seedlings were planted in Korogocho and Kariobangi with help from community members, local schools, and our young boxers.
This initiative not only combats climate change but also teaches youth responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of protecting nature.

3. Youth Mentorship & Academic Empowerment Program
Ongoing Since: 2019
Location: Korogocho, Kariobangi, Mathare
Partners: Rotary Club of Lang’ata, BoxGirls Kenya, Normal Difference Mind Health Project, Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation
Overview:
This flagship program merges sport and life skills training to nurture confident, educated, and responsible youth. Through mentorship workshops, career talks, and motivational sessions, participants learn about discipline, focus, and goal-setting.
During national exam seasons, ABF provides exam materials, success cards, and encouragement to candidates sitting for KCPE, KCSE, and KPSEA.
Impact:
- 300+ youth mentored yearly
- Enhanced discipline and academic focus
- Mental health awareness and support programs established
4. Peace & Unity Sports Campaign — “Nyinyi na Sisi”
Date: August 2023
Location: Kawangware, Nairobi
Partners: Tegla Loroupe Peace Foundation, Wazeledo Movement Africa, Local Churches
Overview:
The “Nyinyi na Sisi” Peace Campaign used boxing and dialogue to foster peace and unity among youth from diverse communities.
Through sports, art, and conversation, participants explored non-violence, mutual respect, and the power of teamwork.
Sgt. Nickson Abaka led the campaign with an inspiring message — that strength should be used to protect and not to destroy.
Impact:
- 500+ youth reached
- Strengthened peace and coexistence initiatives
- Promoted responsible citizenship through sports
5. Health & Wellness Outreach
Date: May 2024
Location: Korogocho
Partners: SASAdoctor, Rotary Club of Lang’ata
Overview:
In collaboration with SASAdoctor and other partners, ABF hosted a community medical outreach focusing on physical health, nutrition, and hygiene.
Participants received free medical check-ups, including BMI tests, blood pressure screening, and personalized consultations.
This initiative emphasized that a healthy body and mind are essential for performance, learning, and overall well-being.
Impact:
- 150+ individuals served
- Improved health awareness and preventive care
- Promoted wellness culture within the boxing community
6. Back-to-School and Education Support Initiative
Ongoing Since: 2020
Partners: Copia, Local Schools, Goodwill Ambassadors
Overview:
Education lies at the heart of our mission. Each year, ABF runs a Back-to-School Drive to equip students with essentials such as school bags, shoes, books, and uniforms.
Through this initiative, we reduce the barriers that keep children out of school — ensuring every young person we serve can learn with dignity and hope.
Impact:
- 200+ students supported annually
- Improved school attendance and retention rates
- Fostered responsibility and empathy among youth athletes
7. Boxing as a Tool for Change — The Korogocho Youth Empowerment Project
Ongoing Since: 2019
Location: Damascus Primary School, Korogocho
Partners: Nairobi County Government, Community Leaders
Overview:
This flagship project remains the cornerstone of ABF’s work. Using boxing as a positive alternative to crime, drug abuse, and hopelessness, the program transforms youth through physical training, mentorship, and discipline.
It provides a safe haven for boys and girls aged 7–18 to develop confidence, discipline, and community spirit — turning today’s trainees into tomorrow’s leaders.
Impact:
- 500+ children and youth empowered
- Reduced crime and drug involvement
- Produced promising boxers and responsible citizens
