Lt Col. Paul Bundi Mung’ori is an accomplished Military Professional and the current Chairman of Defence Forces Amateur Boxing Association (DEFABA). He has also served as the Secretary General of Boxing Association of Kenya (BAK) and a member of AIBA. Under his leadership at DEFABA, boxers have qualified to represent the KDF and/or the country in various games locally and across the globe, particularly in National Leagues, Military Games, Continental Championships, World Championships, Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games, in which DEFABA team members have produced the bulk of medals.

He has also supported professional boxes in training to the extend of winning a World Boxing Championship (WBC) and introduced gender mainstreaming in DEFABA by recruiting women boxers. Other achievements are include introduction of hall-of-fame, which recognize boxers and documents their achievement. He ensured DEFABA complied with all statutory requirements within the country and specifically the Sports Act.

As a Secretary General of Boxing Association of Kenya (BAK) from 24th August 2018, Lt Col Mung’ori ensured the federation complied with the statutory requirements, negotiated for a democratic election between the rival parties which paved way for an election of BFK executive committee and stabilized the league domestically.

Lt Col Mung’ori holds Post graduate Diploma in International Relation and security from University of Nairobi among other academic qualifications, financial accountant and a trained certified boxing coach. He has a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem-solving and a drive to see things through to completion. He believes in the clear sport, respecting each other during the competitions and in the fair play of boxing in and out of the ring, His personal skills are strong management skills’ problem-solving, assertiveness in directing and decision making, strategic planning & thinking; conflict management skills and organizing & creating structures.
